Not every ride requires the full regalia of heavy duty textiles and leather. On a story assignment for Roadrunner Magazine last summer, to deal with Oklahoma’s July heat I wore a Klim Induction jacket, Mojave Pro gloves, and Mojave pants and jersey. With sturdy Karbonite mesh, advertised as 750 percent stronger than typical nylon, adjustable arm straps and an articulated fit, I enjoyed peace of mind and a level of comfort hard to come by with typical four-season protective gear. Soft and pliable D30 strain-sensitive armor was hardly noticeable. I like the fact it freezes upon impact offering maximum protection by spreading force over a wide area, yet it still molds around my joints. The lightweight, breathable waterproof liner can be zipped inside or worn over the jacket, sealing out a soggy, wet layer. A handy chest pocket with a waterproof dry bag provides a dry but accessible place to keep a wallet or cell phone. There are two outer hand warming pockets, two inner pockets and a hidden inner passport pocket for extra stowage. There is also an emergency ID Pocket on the sleeve.
Wearing this jacket every day for more than a week helped me appreciate Klim’s attention to detail. Glove-friendly zipper pulls, generous fit and a comfortable fleece collar prevented many of the irritations often associated with the usual heavy, protective adventure riding gear. Thanks Klim, for helping me armor up without having to suffer heat stroke. Oh! And when will we see the Induction pants?

Fantastic fitting jacket & life saving too
The Induction jacket is amazing! It is very cool with lots of airflow. I live in the humid south and this jacket is exactly what I needed for the sweltering heat of summer. The rain liner works quite well but do keep in mind it is not Gore-Tex so after time it does saturate. As a daily rider, the Induction jacket is well fitting and so lightweight that I do not even realize I have it on some days, that is of course with the D3O armour in place.
Speaking of that, the elbow armour is always in the correct position, which for someone as petite as I am, is a big deal.
Not only that but I can now say that the Induction jacket works, I was recently in a collision and the paramedics on the scene as well as the ER staff were amazed I was still alive after the crash. They gave that credit to my gear which included the Induction Jacket and gloves. While I do have some broken bones and a lot of bruising there was no road rash at all.

The all-new Induction Jacket was created for motorcyclists who need the functionality of a premium, fully-ventilated mesh jacket without compromising the protective qualities found typically in heavier textile jackets. Constructed with proprietary KLIM® KARBONITE MESH™ Technology which yields a final highly-flexible material that is up to 750% stronger than polyesters used by other brands. The Induction Jacket exceeds military spec requirements for tensile strength and includes impact protection technology with integrated D3O® armor in the elbows and shoulders.
