Jonah Street was a 'revelation' in the 2006 Dakar. In his first Dakar Rally, he competed with and beat some of the big factory teams. He placed in the top 5 in three different stages, and announced his presence to the world rally community. In the 2007 Rally, he was running in 4th position overall when he suffered engine failure and was forced to retire.
In the 2009 Dakar Rally, Jonah again showed his toughness and talent. Riding with a previously injured wrist, he spent the first week of the rally in the top three overall, and won stage 5 by over five minutes. Unfortunately, he was forced to retire on Stage 8 due to the injury.
He was back in 2011 and proved his merit by again leading stages however he was kept from the podium by essentially bad-luck.
Jonah has strong backing from Yamaha going into 2012 and we are excited to see this talented underdog again rock the world desert racing community.
