Bunke Racing Kicks Off USXC Season With Podium Finishes
At the Gerald Dyrdahl Memorial Pine Lake 200 Moorhead, Minn. (December 16, 2013) – The Bunke Racing team kicked off its race season at the USXC’s Gerald Dyrdahl Memorial race held on Pine Lake near Gonvick. Minnesota, this past weekend. The two day race event was the season opener and the cold conditions did not slow down the Bunke Racing team and other Polaris racers on the track. Saturday’s conditions were overcast with some challenging snow dust that the racers had to contend with, while Sunday’s racing was postponed initially due to temperatures that hovered around 32 below zero. With help from the Polaris Race Department who was on-site as early as Wednesday, Bunke Racing team members perfected a race ready set-up that proved to be a winner.
Gabe was ready and had nothing but the checkered flag in his eyesight. He took the checkered flag Saturday and Sunday giving him the overall Win in the Pro Open and a podium finish in the Pro 600. Taylor Bunke, stepped up to the Semi-Pro 600 class this year and found the snow dust to be a bit of a challenge, but handled it like a pro. Spencer Kadlec was running in the top 5 on time most of the race but came up short with technical issues in the Pro Stock final.
“Overall, Bunke Racing and many of the Polaris riders had a great opening weekend,” says Bunke. “The conditions were cold, but our sleds were working great.” Polaris had a dominating weekend grabbing 2 podium finishes in the Pro Womens class, Jill Tangen with the win followed by Anne Pladson taking 2nd. Polaris rider Austin Reinertson on his new 2014 Polaris Indy took the win in the Sport 600 class.
Bunke Racing has expanded its operation past the race track in recent years offering race and trail performance parts and packages for Polaris’s Indy’s. The Bunke Racing Indy Kit which was run by Reinertson, is available in both a race version and trail version on the Bunke Racing website.
www.bunkeracing.com “We are pleased with this season’s kick-off on the USXC circuit. We couldn’t have done it without the support of the Polaris Race Department and all of our great sponsors,” says Bunke. “We also need to thank the Dyrdahl family for hosting this race, events like this don’t happen without the support and passion of volunteers and the staff at USXC. They put on a great race event and we were happy to be a part of it.” Next up for Bunke Racing is the USXC J&K Marine Beach Bar 200 in Detroit Lakes, Minn., January 4th.
