KLIM's Scott Bright Wins BAJA RALLY 2.0
After four days of rally stages and roughing it on the Baja CA peninsula, KLIM's Scott Bright and Team Pan Am Rally stood atop the podium of the BAJA RALLY 2.0, Baja CA's first and only DAKAR-style rally raid for motorcycles.
Bright, who was slated to make his FIM Rally debut at the Dakar Rally, used the BAJA RALLY as his shakedown training event for the Dakar. It was Bright’s first start in an official, timed rally event.
“I had an absolute blast,” Bright recounts, “Rally is anyone’s game and the one that tallies up the fewest mistakes is usually the winner. It was a great event and I’ll be back next year to defend my title.”
Bright had his share of mistakes but strong riding paired with a cool head allowed him to prevail despite daily attacks from BAJA 1000 legends Steve Hengeveld and Andy Grider, who each kept the pressure on Bright from the start.
“Having KLIM as a partner from the beginning does so much for BAJA RALLY and the sport in general,” explained rally director Scotty Breauxman, “It gives us momentum and incentives for riders to wear and test the most functional gear available. It’s a big win-win for everyone.”
The BAJA RALLY is the first and only navigation based rally event for motorcycles in Baja CA. Sponsored and supported by federal, state and local governments, the BAJA RALLY is the future of eco-adventure tourism in Baja CA. KLIM commends Bright, and the entire BAJA RALLY family for their dedication to bringing the sport of rally-raid to North America.
