WORCS Rd. 1 Race Report
WORCS Round 1 in Taft, CA went well for our team.
Travis Coy #452, started off Saturday with a 2nd place finish in the 450 A class on his new KTM 450 XCF. Sunday's Pro 2 race got off to a good start with Travis leading in the first hour only to be disqualified for accidentally missing a course marker. Travis humbly accepted the penalty and leaves with confidence he can finish well at the next round.
Louise Forsley made a special guest appearance to try her 1st WORCS event on her KTM 250 XCF. She finished 7th and had a great time in the Women's Pro event.
Eric Yorba #280, last years WORCS Pro 2 Champion, moved up to the Pro class this year. He started off Sunday's main event with a holeshot. Yorba has had a bad cold and did not have the energy to stay up front, eventually finishing 7th.
Ty Tremaine #114, made his Pro debut and finished a respectful 6th place.
Justin Jones #3, got off the Pro line 2nd on his KTM 450 XCF making it a 1 -2 start with teammate Yorba. Jones ran a flawless race finishing 2nd behind KTM rider Gary Sutherlin.
Team Owner Mike Hurlbert missed the weekend's activities due to multiple flight cancelations. "Thankfully the team was very prepared and organized" said Hurlbert. "I ended up going over to our friends to watch the Seattle Seahawks win a football game. I'm very proud of my team for doing so well in my absence".
Justin Jones also raced the previous week at the Transworld Motocross event at Glen Helen. He won the first heat and finished 4th in the second heat for 3rd overall.
The new Maxxis MX IT front and rear tires are hooking up real good for all our riders in Motocross and Off Road events.
