Every weekend KLIM athletes and ambassadors across the globe tackle some of the gnarliest and sometimes unpredictable terrain to pursue their passion and push their abilities to see what they’re really capable of.

Here’s a quick recap of where KLIM athletes put their gear to the test this weekend.

The first round of the 2022 GEICO AMA EnduroCross Championship Series in Salt Lake City featured KLIM athletes Will Riordan (FMF RPM KTM Racing) and Max Gerston (GasGas) on the line in the EX Pro class.

For Riordan, who finished 11th overall with a 11-9-12 across three motos, his first race in a while was good to get out of the way and learn a few things.

“My first round was pretty average,” Riordan said. “I couldn’t stay out of trouble really. My biggest challenge was making mistakes. It’s so hectic out there especially mid-pack so moving forward I need to get better starts and put myself into a podium position. Starts are everything.”

For Gerston, who finished 12th overall with a 9-12-13, the first round was good to get back to racing.

“The first round of Endurocross was a blast,” said Gerston “I had fun mixing it up. I didn’t have the strongest ride but my goal was to get back into the flow and work out the first race bugs.”

The challenging course stacked the world’s best Endurocross athletes on a super short and tiny track inside the Maverik Events Center. “Sixteen guys in a hockey arena was tough so there was a lot of slamming,” Gerston added. “I am looking forward to riding a little before the next round in Oregon and bringing a little more heat.” (Round 2 is Saturday, Sept. 24, in Redmond, Ore., or live on rydetv.com.)

At the World Off Road Championship Series double-header in Preston, Idaho, Mateo Oliveira (FMF RPM KTM Racing) took the overall win in the Pro 250 class finishing six seconds ahead of second place.

“My key to winning this weekend was getting out front early and setting a high pace for the rest of the class to match,” Oliveira said, adding that his biggest challenge was his starts. “I was at the back of the pack from the start both days.”

The Buttars family battled in multiple classes with Brock, a Team Timbersled Athlete and member of the 2023 KLIM Backcountry Team, taking home the win in the 30+ B class.

“The race conditions on Saturday were as good as you could ever ask for,” Brock said. “Perfect black corn dirt and 70 degrees and sunny.”

Brock battled with a rider the entire 50-minute race – “It was pure racing bliss!” he said.

Son, Will, finished second in 65 C after a great start. Daughter, Tyla, finished fourth in Girls 12-15, and also raced her brother’s 65 in the 65 C class to a fifth-place finish.

Ride hard, ride often, ride KLIM.
