SR Technical Designer

Essential Function:

 

    The SR Technical Designer will be responsible for directly managing all aspects of the development of multiple products across multiple categories, from design hand-off to final pre-production prototype.  This position requires driving and developing products to achieve COE quality standards. 

     

    Responsibilities also include, product labeling and organization for all Milestone meetings, collaboration with both PLM, design and development staff to accomplish line plan target revenue and margin goals.  Monitor Timelines on all projects from design hand-off to production approval, and coordinate all tasks with the category team. 

     

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    • - Work with Sr. Technical Designer to initiate product testing with the PLM Team.
    • - Manage style pre-costing and analyze all subsequent prototype costing to ensure yield, material costs, and FOB’s are accurate and meet margin objectives from conceptual design to Pre-Production Samples.
    • - Collaborate with Sr. Technical Designer and Design team in the following:
    • - Contribute ideas for construction, materials and components to enhance functionality, aesthetics, fit and margin
    • - Adhere to product/seasonal timeline by scheduling Fit and Construction meetings on a regular basis.
    • - Oversee the creating, manipulating and modification of technical drawings of owned category products, using Adobe Illustrator and PLM system, based on the Product Brief driven by Product Line Managers (PLM)
    • - Using input from PLM and Design, accounting requirements, and company knowledge, will oversee the creation of technical packages, containing accurate technical drawings, bills of material, construction, implement packaging requirements from marketing and other technical information to be used by factories in calculating costs and producing products.
    • - Together with the Design and PLM groups, the Technical Designer will review prototypes and pre-production samples against technical packages and oversee the formulation, feedback and corrections needed from the factory for future prototypes.
    • - Collaborate with others in the department to manage workloads to meet deadlines while achieving the highest level of quality and accuracy
    • - Support & assist Design in establishing all product specifications required in the Tech Pack;
    • - Able to use Patternmaking, fabric, cut and sew knowledge to improve quality, fit and function.
    • - Serves as a proactive conduit between the designer and sourcing throughout the development of product.
    • - Accountable for staying on calendar, adhering to process, prototype evaluations, accuracy of the Technical Data Package and follow through on accuracy of sales sample and production data packages
    • - oversees the creation of documented evaluations of each prototype against its agreed product specification, tracking all comments, changes and specifications during the stages of evaluation.
    • - Delivers all category products to a specific target FOB
    • - Proactively communicates with internal team, contractors, Manufacturing Facilities, Sourcing team, and material management staff during the entire development process;
    • - Oversee the documentation of consumption into Bill of Materials
    • - Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested and within timeline constraints

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

    Bachelors’ Degree in Technical/Fashion Design or equivalent expertise in related area with a minimum of 5 years’ experience. Fashion and patternmaking/CAD experience needed.  Strong computer skills. Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Office and Photoshop are required. Strong ability to adhere to deadlines is a must. Delivers accurate data on-time and in-full. Advanced knowledge of apparel fit/construction and costing. Excellent written and oral communication. Advanced apparel/product knowledge and ability to research and know global markets and competition is preferred. Must be able to present products professionally in front of large groups of people.

Apparel Graphic Designer

Essential Function:

 

    Apparel Graphic Designer

     

    The primary responsibilities of the Apparel Graphic Designer are to design and execute creative projects for KLIM. This includes Mens, Womens and Youth graphic apparel, accessories, equipment, and brand labeling systems.

     


    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • - Contribute to the innovative, brand-right graphics for all tiers of global apparel and product branding, for both in-line and quick-turn calendars under direction of  Design Director.
    • - Be at the global forefront of design trends and graphic application. Design graphic art with planning and forethought around artwork execution: screen-printing techniques, applique, embroidery and other embellishment methods.
    • - Own the creative process to make sure that the final product aligns with creative direction and meets commercial objectives
    • - Continuously leverages resources in producing new ideas. Has solid awareness of outdoor, lifestyle and streetwear trends and the and the ability to interpret these trends though the KLIM lens.
    • - Creates accurate production files detailing artwork specifications, scale, application materials to vendors. Reviews strike-offs and drives for highest standard of results.
    • - Produce trend reports and present findings to cross functional teams 

     


    SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
    1 year minimum related professional experience.
    Experience in apparel graphic design a plus.
    Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, or equivalent experience and portfolio, or equivalent years of combined education and experience.
    Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign in a Mac environment.
    High level of creativity.
    Strong understanding of design principles, passion for typography, and strong sense & understanding of color.
    Hand-drawing and illustration capabilities.
    Understanding of the outdoor market. Participatory knowledge of sports represented by KLIM is extremely helpful.
    Exercises personal professionalism and sense of accountability.
    Possess effective communication skills and thrives on working within team-based environment.
    Must be detail oriented with design, production files, and communication.
    Demonstrated ability to work in fast-paced, deadline driven environment.
    Travel required: 5%

Event and Athlete Manager

Essential Function:

 

    Essential Function

     

    Manage the overall vision of Klim’s marketing efforts within events, shows, athletes and influencers for snow, off road and motorcycle segments. Through the management of a team, this position will develop for each season, a marketing plan that supports Klim’s yearly objectives. This will entail developing and maintain a group of athletes and influencers, deciding on company’s show and events strategy, working with others in the marketing group to utilize these channels to execute the marketing plans and measure effectiveness of marketing efforts. Understanding marketing best practices will be key in being successful with this position.  Another facet to this position is working with Klim’s Product Line Managers to insuring that they are receiving information from the field that will help in developing future product lines and company direction.  

     

    Duties & Responsibilities

     

    • - Manage a team of employees
    • - Develop and maintain a team of athletes and influencers.
    • - Develop plans specific to show and events that Klim would attend.
    • - As plan dictates develop and execute Klim created events.  
    • - Develop marketing strategies and plans based on company’s goals and objectives that will be driven through company’s marketing efforts within events, sponsored riders and influencers.
    • - Manage the different projects existing within the seasonal plan, working with different groups with the marketing group to make sure projects are completed.
    • - Analyze and measure marketing efforts to make sure Klim is receiving highest ROI
    • - Work with PLM team by providing feedback from sponsored riders, end consumers and from other sources.
    • - Work with PLM team to make sure that there is a strong understanding of product direction and marketing segment focus.
    • - Communicate industry trends/influences
    • - Maximize product exposure in the field through selected industry contacts.
    • - Develop integration into social media/customer interaction with all ad campaigns—always offer more behind the ad.
    • - The Athlete Managers are the ones who manage the other aspects about an athlete's sponsorship
    • - Negotiate solid contracts with Athletes and events which is beneficial for both the company and the athlete/venue.
    • - Capitalize on media connections to get athlete and product exposure.
    • - Work with Digital to help generate content for different marketing channels. (Email, social media, blasts, viral videos, website, etc.)
    • - Help develop our events from proposal right up to delivery, including: o Set, communicate and maintain project timelines and priorities o Develop contacts to secure appropriate and good-value venue
    • - Organize appropriate sponsorship
    • - Work with our graphic designer to develop promotional materials
    • - On-the-day management of events

     

    Qualifications

     

    Strong computer skills, knowledge of Social media platforms and how to use them with influencers. Knowledge of the power sports industry is a plus. Previous manager experience required. 

     

    Education/Experience

     

    Knowledge and experience in the power sports industry a plus. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs. Ability to travel to multiple events a year.  Extensive relationship building and management skills.  Experienced in budget management. Experienced with problem solving skills.  Capable of making decision based on what will benefit KLIM.  Capable of riding with all skill levels from beginner to advanced.  Trained in first aid, avalanches, and back country survival.    Photo and Video experience a plus.  Some writing and editing skills a plus with the ability to articulate experiences and bringing them to life. 

     

    Working Conditions

    A physically demanding job is one where the incumbent is required to stand for extended periods of time, lift heavy objects on a regular basis, do repetitive tasks with few breaks, and so forth.
