Lifestyle Apparel Developer

Essential Function

 

The Product Developer has a key role in the creation and dissemination of technical information and documentation necessary for the timely and quality manufacture of KLIM products. This position is responsible for the development of product, from design to final prototype, which translates the consumer need into a brand aligned product brief that can be commercialized with profit margins which drive P&L goals. Drive lifestyle and functional products to achieve KLIM’s quality standards. 5+ year’s experience in a Lifestyle brand, preferably a brand with heavy direct to consumer presence.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

     

  • - Produce, manipulate, and modify technical sketches of accessory products using Adobe Illustrator based on input from Sales, Branding and Design/Creative;
  • - Using input from Sales, Branding and Design/Creative, account requirements, and institutional knowledge create technical packages containing accurate technical sketches, bills of materials, construction, packaging and other technical information to be used by factories in calculating costs for and producing products;
  • - Together with the Research and Development group review prototype, pre-production, and production samples against technical packages and formulate feedback and constructive criticism together with clear direction that brings about successful completion of projects within given time constraints;
  • - Collaborate with others in the department to manage workloads to meet deadlines while achieving the highest level of quality and accuracy;
  • - Support & assist Design in establishing all product specifications required in the Tech Pack;
  • - Prepares and maintain an accurately updated Specification Info for every product;
  • - Serves as a proactive conduit between the designer and sourcing throughout the development of a session;
  • - Accountable for the staying on calendar, implementing process, proto critiques, accuracy of the specification pack and eventually the accuracy of the sales sample and production tech packs;
  • - Creates documented critiques of each prototype against its agreed product specification, tracking all comments, changes and specifications during the stages of critique;
  • - Takes a proactive role through entire product design process (research, design concept presentation, illustrations, fit and direction and development of specification pack);
  • - Constructs and follows-up product briefs and delivers a product that adheres to a specific target FOB;
  • - Proactively communicates with internal team, contractors, Sourcing team, and material suppliers during the entire development process;
  • - Responsible for managing material usage and specifications to achieve production efficiencies.

Qualifications

Lifestyle Apparel Designer

The Apparel Designer determines style, material, and color directions based on input from the customer, merchandising, sales, marketing, development and sourcing staff.  Keeps abreast of fashion trends and consumer needs, and supports the integrity of the lines/brands and the goals of the company.  Produces design sketches and makes seasonal presentations of product designs.  Reviews all styles for construction, silhouette, fit and trim details, and approves quality of factory samples. 5+ year’s experience in a Lifestyle brand, preferably a brand with heavy direct to consumer presence.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • - Responsible for the cohesiveness of assigned product categories.
  • - Design a given number of products per season as well as managing carry- overs for assigned collections.
  • - Attend trade shows, research global markets review industry publications to stay current with market trends andidentify new fabrics and techniques. Mentor junior team members on what to look for and how to effectively use time.

Lifestyle Product Line Manager

Essential Functions

 

The Product Line Manager is responsible for leading an assigned category's planning and product creation process from concept through commercialization. They're charged with ownership of assigned marketplace, execution of business plans, sales and margin accountability, calendar adherence, and cross functional leadership. The Product Line Manager owns relevant information on consumer and competitors, identifying trends, business strategy plans and analysis. 5+ year’s experience in a Lifestyle brand, preferably a brand with heavy direct to consumer presence.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  • - Responsible for overall strategic direction of the line, which businesses to grow, decline and maintain in accordance with business priorities of each operating channel

  • - Create product briefs that inspire design and development in the product Incorporate marketplace influences and consumer insights. Provide briefs that give clear product direction and information to the development and design partners.
  • - Partner with Design, Development and Sourcing to ensure deadlines are met and that product's hit all key metrics (initial gross margin, retail pricing, minimums, and turns). Develop a collaborative working environment among product creation teams. Resolve process issues and recommend ways to continually improve the interaction of team members as well as process efficiencies.
  • - Presentation of their product lines to various internal and external audiences such as Key Accounts, Sales and Upper Management at key events such as: Pre-Lines, Sample Reviews, Sales Meetings and Trade Shows.
  • - Analyze product sell through, turns and margin to maximize sales and margins. Analyze and report style/category/channel business performance on a regular basis.

Purchasing Intern

The ability to multi-task and creatively problem solve are essential. The ideal candidate is a quick learner who can retain knowledge and training. The candidate should also demonstrate initiative and strong organizational skills. The Customer Service Professional is responsible for providing exceptional service to every customer and will respond to telephone, email and live chat customer inquiries in an efficient, professional and friendly manner.  Must be available to work a shift Monday - Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
